Carrie Crecca, from New York, thinks that British style is a lot more practical compared to what she she sees at home in Brooklyn. “Here, everyone is stylish but there is a lot more function. You see people carrying an umbrella and with really cool rain boots on, whereas in New York people just buy an umbrella when they are out,” she said. The 30-year-old, who works in PR, is on holiday in London wearing a chequered vintage jacket over a black vintage polo neck and black Rag & Bone skinny jeans. She has added black Vans sneakers, an American Apparel hat and a Fendi bag. Carrie said: “I think proportions are really important for flattering your shape, if you are doing something looser on the bottom go for something a little more slim fitting on top.”
Ashleigh Handley, a 29-year-old mum from Bracknell in Berkshire, is having a day out in London. She is wearing a black and white dogtooth print coat from Zara over a black jumper, jeans and a pair of lace up boots from H&M. She thinks getting hold of a good quality coat is the best move to switch up your style as the colder days set in.
Isaac Musgrove, from Gloucester, has just turned 19 and is visiting London as part of his birthday week celebrations, which will consist of lots of shopping and eating out. He is dressed head to toe in Topman, where he works, opting for a pair of skinny, high-waisted jeans, a patterned jumper, a bright, chequered scarf and a gold eagle chain from Topshop. He has added some shoes from All Saints. Isaac said: “Don't be afraid to wear things that you think everyone else will find weird because at the end of the day, loads of things just suddenly catch on. Especially in London, it is really easy to get away with anything, it is all about trying things out before anyone else.”
Thirty-five-year-old Lynne Murray, from Ealing, who is the head of finance for Sky, said she likes clothes which are classic and well-fitting. She is wearing a black top from Oasis, a long black maternity skirt from Asos, a pair of black Blowfish boots and a grey jacket from Isabella Oliver maternity store. She carries a black Prada bag and his livened up her outfit with a hat from Ted Baker and a blue and black patterned scarf from a little shop in the north-west of England.
Laura Erber, 18, a medical student from Austria, is enjoying a holiday in London. She is wearing brown trousers from Mango, a patterned jumper which was a present from a friend, brown boots that she picked up online, a scarf from Accessorize and a wooly cardigan from a market in Madrid. Laura, who is out shopping today on the hunt for something unique, thinks you should just wear whatever makes you feel pretty and comfortable.
Laura d'Argent, from Stuttgart in Germany, stands out from the crowd with her long, blue and green hair. The 23-year-old, who is doing an apprenticeship in London, wears a patterned, grey and black poncho over a grey hoody from New Look, some jeans from H&M and some brown boots from Deichmann.
